Our editor once made me remove a pink background from a panel because "Outdoor Life readers can't see pink". After that every time there was a girl in the story I put pink on her. Nobody ever complained about that.
I always sent an early version of the page to our editor so he could see the color palette and give him something to do text and balloon placement on. Usually a lot of space is still uncolored. Well that month they forgot to drop the finished version into their layout before going to press so when the magazine came out there were skies and bushes missing all over the place. OOPS!
